Herping in arizona?

Ok, so I have decided i wanna go herping for snakes for my first time, (Specifically coral snakes, king snakes and garter snakes) and dont know what area to look for them, im in north phoenix and dont mind driving, so do any of you know where to look? Thanks!!

I imagine if you head out into the desert/forest at dusk you have a pretty good chance of getting lucky. I can almost guarantee you'll find more cruising the backroads than you ever will hiking in a small area.
