Good-bye Glitch

I posted a while ago about Glitch, one of the rescued carpet pythons I took in. He went through a lot, and I had him for a short time, but he definitely affected me more than most animals in my life. We took him to a new vet about two weeks ago and we spoke about realistic options for him. It was either get him into a surgery that we couldn't afford or have him put down. It was extremely hard to have to give up on him but I felt it was best for him and he couldn't suffer anymore.

I never thought I'd become so attached to a reptile and that it would be as difficult as it was but it's what was best for Glitch.

I'm sorry I couldn't do more for you. RIP.

Re: Good-bye Glitch

Sorry for your loss. You did you best and at least cared for him and gave him some comfort before he died.

Re: Good-bye Glitch

I'm so sorry to hear about Glitch. I know that you tried everything that you could, and did your best for him. I know it's small consolation, but you did more than most people would, and I think you made the right decision. Surgery would have been a major risk and most likely would not have prolonged his life in any significant way.

It's never easy to lose an animal, even one you've not had for very long. You will be in my thoughts.

Re: Good-bye Glitch

I'm sorry for your loss. You gave so much more than most people ever would. Remember that his final weeks he was in a loving home where he recieved the best care. Making the final decision for him was a difficult one, but one that was for his comfort. RIP Glitch

Re: Good-bye Glitch

Thank you everyone. This definitely is one of the hardest passings I've had to go through. Just seeing how far he had gotten since getting him made me feel like I did give up on him but I'm happy that he got to experience being properly cared for before passing, and that he was not in his previous home. I miss him intensely, he definitely was a special snake.
