Regulations on Retics in Louisiana?

I searched the Internet and this forum specifically, and cannot find anything regarding reptile regulations in the state of Louisiana. Am I missing them, or are there no regulations? The only laws I could find for Louisiana in regards to exotic pets pertain to "Potentially Dangerous Wild Quadrupeds, Big Exotic Cats, and Non-Human Primates." But I want to check every source I can in this general research phase to make sure I don't miss anything!

Thank you! I don't know how I missed that... I looked at SO many sites, and none of them mentioned snakes!

Also, check your local city and county laws.

Re: Regulations on Retics in Louisiana?

We are considering moving there, but don't know what area yet... So I wanted to at least check state laws first to make sure it could remain a possibility. Once we have narrowed down an area, I will definitely check the local laws!

I think Louisiana would be sweet. I'm a huge Hunter and fisherman and it offers so many sporting opportunities. Plus they have great gun laws if your into shooting sports.

My boyfriend is there right now for a job (his first time there), and he has fallen absolutely in love with it apparently! I have never been there, but I have a few friends down that way and it sounds exactly like my sort of place. My only worry is the humidity.. I've never experienced humidity before! But I love traveling and moving to random new places.. so I am game! lol.

Exactly why I didn't immediately reject the idea! We are in California now, and it's just been hell dealing with all the hunting and firearms regulations. I am ranch born and raised, and would LOVE to live in a state that supports self-sufficient hunters/fisherman/firearms owners.

Re: Regulations on Retics in Louisiana?

I'm from Florida. Humidity sucks! I'm not kidding. The only thing keeping me from moving back to a southern state is the heat and humidity. I was born and raised in Florida, moved to Ohio, and even this is too much for me. I'm looking to move to Alaska in the next few years.

Re: Regulations on Retics in Louisiana?

You're going to love it here if you like hunting and fishing, and yes the humidity can get really really bad. I get really excited for people to come here that are into coastal fishing and awesome seafood. We're probably more famous for our adult tourist attractions, but we have tons of family orientated activities, and the food!!!
On another note there was recent legislation trying to ban large snakes, I forgot the name of the bill, but I signed the petition and had a letter sent on my behalf at the last repticon so you might want to look into that.

I do not like any temperature over 60F and I don't like sunny.. But unfortunately I'm hooked on all sorts of sports with my dogs that aren't available in Alaska right now ): But I would love nothing more than to homestead up there! <3

I did see some potential laws that were trying to make their way up, so I will definitely keep an eye on things. Considering this will be a move years in the making, if it indeed does come to e, a lot will probably (but hopefully not!) changed for the worse by then in regards to laws on exotics ):

Yeah "food" alone is worth the move! Great state for herps as well! I lived in Lafayette for 2 years and never did adjust to the humidity. Just tolerated it lol!

Don't blame you for wanting to move out of cali, I lived there for most of my life, moved to Texas and I'll never look back. Not big on hot weather but the laws are waaaaay better here. I need a cold state so we're thinking of moving to Minnesota.

I have friends from Texas who still visit there frequently.. I've always wanted to go! But nearly anywhere is better than California! I really would like to give Montana a try... gorgeous land and good winters.
