yellow king snake?

stopped into the LPS today to grab a few supples, and they had a new addition that kind of floored me...I love kings (beautiful color varieties) but have never seen one like the one they just got in...no pics, because I had to look up under the "floor" of the tank to see it hiding, but it is highlighter yellow and black striped..looked like a jungle carpet coloring...was very pretty! any other "king" fans see anything like this before?? wish I had room, I love unique animals...LOL

So many amazing snakes! I want one of each but I'm happy with my little collection.

If it is a genuinely authentic subspecies of kingsnake, and not a hybrid cross, it is likely a well-colored California kingsnake (L.g.californiae). Without a photo it is tough to say just from a description. There are so many hybrid crosses out in the hobby mainstream now that it can be almost anything without actually seeing it. If you had a photo and it is a genuinely authentic subspecies of kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula) I'm sure I could ID it for you.

cheers, ~Doug

Re: yellow king snake?

I would say it is more likely a desert kingsnake.
