my 2 Rescues
3 months ago I drove 14 hours (round-trip) to rescue these two loves. The person I took them from said they got my # from a friend who had my business card and said they were agressive and that she was afraid to feed or handle them. She tried to sell them and had no success and said that if no-one could take them that she would let them go in the park (after all, they are North American Colubrids, right????? )
So of course I took them in, you know what?? neither has shown the least bit of aggression, I handle them and allow my 6 year old to touch them and have had no problems with dangle feeding them their F/T mice.
They are both Gorgeous, non- aggressive Corns, I handle them all the time!! I haven't sexed them yet, I lost my probe kit and had to order another, which I finally got last week.
So now they are up for adoption, so if any of you BC'ers out there want a GREAT and beautiful Corn, let me know. Just PM me.
Here is the Amel:

Re: my 2 Rescues
What beauties! And an aggressive corn? Whaaaat? They seem pretty docile to me!
Where did you get your probe kit from? I've been trying to find one without having to pay a ridiculous amount for shipping.

Re: my 2 Rescues
Corn snakes are awesome. My Amel IS aggressive though lol but only until I get her out of her enclosure.. then she's perfectly fine. Your Okeetees colours are perfect! Very beautiful snakes

Re: my 2 Rescues
Sharthun Thank you, yes they ar beautiful, and if I had the space I would keep them as non-breeders. but to be honest, with the # of snakes I have in my breeding program, it is not realistic for me to do so. I rescued them so they would not be thrown out into a park to suffer and probably die during a Canadian winter. I would dearly love to keep the okeetee, but as I said, I just don't have the room and hope to find them both great before any of this years hatchlings arrive.
Jinxygirl Yes, my female snow gets a little nippy during breeding season, and also at feeding time. What I don't get is that being tagged by a corn is like getting a papercut (at least to me) and cannot fathom why someone would stop feeding these poor loves because of a little bite!! And they had not been fed in only god know how long, they were VERY thin and bony when I picked them up. Now they are nicely streamlined with no bony protuberances sticking out after months of feeding up!!

I have a confession... I've never liked plane old amels. Your snakes look great to me, but amels just aren't my thing :/

Re: my 2 Rescues
I admit, Amels are not my favorite either, the okeetee's are gorgeous though. However, from a breeders standpoint, both are a common morph and at least here in BC, everybody who breeds corns, breeds these two.
I have steered my Corn projects in a different direction, right now I am working on Coral snows, I would like to get the right genes for Orchids as well, and one day (far from now) I would dearly love to have some Palmetto's.
