corn snake dandruff?

So I recently inherited a corn male lavender corn snake. He is about 5 or 6 years old I'm told and I've only had him for a week. His skin seems I dunno kinda flakey. I tried taking pictures bit its really hard to get photos that you can even see it in but I sorta got one. Is this just from a bad shed or something? Any thoughts?

you can only have dandruff if you have fur. or hair.

No I'm not sure. I don't really know a lot about the snakes past. I know its not dandruff but it reminds me of it.

Re: corn snake dandruff?

it looks like stuck shed honestly.. maybe try letting him/her swim around in a bathtub with warm water see if that helps.

Re: corn snake dandruff?

yep stuck shed

does she have access to a humid hide when she is in shed?
do you spray her enclosure to increase humidity when her eyes go blue, and regularly unti she has shed her skin?
does her shed come off in one single piece?
have you checked the end of her tail, is there any shed left there? any discoloration, damage or even a missing part of her tail at the tip?

its very important to keep the humidity up when she is shedding, stuck shed can cause some pretty nasty problems if it happens continuously - as suggested, let her have a swim in a warmish bath tub of water - and add a humid hide to her enclosure (hide stuffed with damp sphag moss will do), no harm in leaving a humid hide in her enclosure at all times, although some just use them during shed

Yeah I've only had possession of the snake for less then a week and know absolutely nothing about his previous home or life. I've seen stuck shed on snakes before and its never looked like this. But I don't even know how long ago his last shed was. I think we are going swimming in the bath tub tonight.
