Yellow Annie Metabolism
First off I am not asking this because I am looking into getting an anaconda.
Do yellow anacondas have a fast metabolism? I saw one feed a smaller rabbit the other day then when I saw it three days later the feed bump was gone and it had pooped. The poop was a real poop not a regurge. The owner is new to anacondas and didn't know if that was actually digested that fast or if it was an old meal. The previous owner had not been feeding it regularly so I am not sure it was an old meal.

Re: Yellow Annie Metabolism
I know this is about yellow annies, but some input on old meals... My green tree hadn't eaten in 3 months(1 month before I received her, 2 months during my care) and when she ate for the first time she pooped a day later... and the feed bump was still there so it had to have been stored up feces.

Re: Yellow Annie Metabolism
This snake was not fed very often by the original owner. That guy's collection was rescued by another guy that bit off more then he could chew so he was feeding everything sparingly. This Annie is fierce and he straight up told the current owner that it was on the bottom of his priority list which means it seldom got fed.

Re: Yellow Annie Metabolism
Can't imagine it pooping the same rabbit three days later. If it was seldom fed wouldn't it absorb as much as it could from that meal? How big was the poop in comparison to the prey item?

Re: Yellow Annie Metabolism
Corn snakes process a mouse in three days.
The poop was big enough to have been a rabbit or if it was old it was several rats then.

Re: Yellow Annie Metabolism
Yes they do have a fast metabolism mine will sometimes poop 2 to 3 days after eating and then turn around and poop a weeks later again. Then he can go a month without being fed and soon as I feed him he'll poop in 2 to 3 days again.

Re: Yellow Annie Metabolism
I've observed very similar rates of digestion with my yellow aswell(not as fast as my retics but quick). But in my experience he'll have a smaller poo a couple days after a meal, then a larger one a few days after that. Always in his water bowl; I love and hate that.
As for fish I haven't tried myself as I haven't been able to find much reliable information on which fish to feed to avoid thiamine(vitamin B1) deficiency. And rodents are fine for a stable diet.
Chuck when are you gonna get some more pics of your (not so)little guy up?
