What kind of snake is this?

So I'm from the Netherlands. We hardly have any snakes here, most people never see one in their live.
Last year we went to America for 5 weeks of training and I decided to catch a snake if I see one. I did but I still don't know what kind of snake it was so maybe someone here can help me out. I caught it in Fort Hood, Texas.
On the second picture I probably had my hand too far back so it could still bite me, but it didn't so I didn't find out if it was poisonous.

new members with a post count less than 5 cannot attach pictures. It's out of my hands, The software counts the posts.
