Overconfidence Gets You Bit!

When I saw this video, it further confirms in my mind that if you are going to work with hots that you should always be on your guard 100% of the time. There is no room for error. This guys attention was diverted one second from what he was doing and bamm! It happened! This was a wild cobra and from what I saw, he was trying to get it out to get it away. I don't understand the language but that would be my guess.

I don't begrudge anyone for keeping or working with hots as long as you know the risks and know what you're doing. As for me, I won't ever come close to one.

Re: Overconfidence Gets You Bit!

That is plain reckless and careless handling of a venomous snake. He gives venomous handlers a bad name. There is one among us that has a big name, but handles them just a careless and he has the younger handlers looking up to him as an example. I use venom defender gloves, sticks, tongs, shields, leg protection and face shields when I work with venomous snakes. There is also restraining tubes, cover boxes and hides with closeable doors, so you don't have to physically handle the snakes when doing routine maintenance.

Re: Overconfidence Gets You Bit!

I couldn't agree more SSSSnakes. It is a very disturbing trend.
