I've decided to go for it! (breed mice)
I posted a while ago with a bunch of questions about breeding mice...I've decided to do it. I get my mice tomorrow - I will be driving out to one pet store for the females and another for the males. If I can, I'll get a male fancy mouse and experiment with genetics.
I figured if it doesn't work out, I can just feed them off to Boaz. They won't go to waste :P
Question - can the male always be in with the females?
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

I used to not think so but we have 10 permanent breeding groups going we call colonies. They dont mix at all with the other colonies and yes the male is always in with the females and we have several litters of pinkies going all the time.

Ok so my male is having diarrhea. Is it just stress from the move? He looks healthy otherwise. I mixed some acidophilus with his water to help his gut. Anything else I can do to help him out?

there's a product called "wet-tail" that you add to the water.
fix it fast, it doesn't take long for a mouse to die of dehydration.

Re: I've decided to go for it! (breed mice)
He's probably going to die. I just got home from work, now his eyes are all sunken in and he's shaking. I can't get to a pet store because this week I am filling in for my boss who is away on vacation, I have to run an entire store by myself.
I get to work in the morning before the pet store opens, and don't get off work until the pet store is closed.
It doesn't help that we don't have A/C and we are having an extra-hot summer here...

be humane, clonk him on the head, end the suffering and when the boss gets back, go get a different male.
