Kenyan Coppulation

I am totally stoked right now. About a year ago I bought a 3 year old male Anery KSB. He was really inexpensive and the previous owners didn't want him anymore and returned him to the pet store they had originally bought him from as a baby. After he was given a clean bill of health they sold him to me. It was then that I started worrying as to why he was returned. My boyfriend and I decided he was probably gay and not going to breed. This past weekend we bought another Anery female, this one was a breeder a friend of ours was selling so he could move. We put them together 3 days ago and today I walked in and there they were with their little tails in the air wrapped around eachother. I am sooo excited. This is my first time witnessing anything like that and I was wondering if anyone has any advice because I am a total newb. Thanks guys.

That is awesome!! I am new to snakes and haven't started breeding yet so I don't have any tips for you that you wouldn't already know, but just wanted to wish you all the best. Congrats!!

My kenyans required very little extra to care for her after the deed was done. The first thing was I warmed her basking area up a bit more then 5degree F to about 100. After 3 to 3 1/2 months I move her into a cage with only a hide and paper towels as substrate. That way when the babies come there is no risk of substrate sticking to them.

So did you leave the male with your female for the whole 3 months up until you moved her robb? I am just worried that he will continue mating with her after she is done and she will get pissed off and beat him up, he is so tiny compared to her. Thanks for your input.

I left them together for about a month after first copulation sighting. They don't always complete the act the first time, so I gave them a chance to ensure insemination.

After that, the boy went back to his own box.

Thanks. I have caught them in the act probably 5-6 times this past week, but I will give him his month, then I will move her out to an even warmer cage alone with her hide box, which is her new favorite place.

At least one, if not both parties, will lose interest in breeding once she ovulates. It's fairly standard practice to allow males to breed for as long as they are willing to. If the female doesn't want to get it on, she will let him know, but they aren't going to fight to the death or anything like that I've never seen more aggression from a female than 'bumping' the male off, which isn't going to harm anyone.

Well the little missus is starting to get mean. Is it normal for them to get jumpy and nippy when they are mixed? My kenyans are always nice, the only time they haven't been before was when my albino was a baby and mixed with her brother. Since I seperated them I haven't been nipped at since I just now reached in to give the, hopefully, mother to be some water. Does this mean she wants to be left alone and I should remove the male, or should I just leave her alone and leave it how it is with him in there too? Sorry if I am being a pest. Thanks.

Another question. When should I start being able to see that she is gravid assuming she is gravid and is there any way to check? Thanks.
