I recently purchased a 4 month old male Dumeril Boa. The seller
informed me that it was raised feeding on live mice. I would like to switch over to frozen mice. The boa has resisted all frozen offerings to this point. Can anyone offer help if they have experienced this situation and how to modify the boas eating
preferences.
You should be trying rats. Try really warm frozen thawed rats and if that doesn't work start live and then switch. You can't raise a boa on mice.
Cheers,
Trevor
Any snake that when it's an adult will be big enough to eat an adult rats is almost always born big enough to eat a baby rat.
A rat pinkie is easier for a baby boa to digest than a fuzzie mouse.
