Very Upset!!!
I'm am so disturbed by what a friend of my boyfriends told me. It's so bad i actually yelled at him, I have never (in 5 years) yelled at one of my mans friends over anything.
Anyway.... He came over tonight and told me his snakes cage broke and he has his bci in with a leopard gecko. That's right his bci in the same exact cage (a 20 gallon non the less) with his leopard gecko. I freaking lost it, i don't know how many curse words you can say in one sentence but i know it was alot!!! His excuse was "well my leos sick and dying anyway, so i figured the snake would eat it, but they sleep together and they seem to get along" and "well thier not mine my ex bought them for me, so you should be happy i'm not taking care of them" (very long story but that is NO reason to treat an animal this way) . Which made me even more pissed off!!! Which i will agree his leo is sick, but if he got off his lazy *** he would take it to a vet and get it check out, I've even said that on SEVERAL occasions and gave him some parazap to at least attempt to help. Nothing works, NOTHING at all, it's worse than talking to a wall. I could keep going on about stuff like this with him, but i don't want you guys to read 20 pages on this.
So he ended up saying "well you can have them if you want them". Yes i would take them if they were healthy, but I know they are not, plus i don't have the space for another leo and a bci.
Here's where i need the help. Should just leave it alone and keep my mouth shut (which it's REALLY hard for me to do), or should i just say yes bring them over and as soon as he leaves call up the St. Louis Herp Society and see if they can rehab them and adopt them out.
If i do take them and call the herp society, i know he would be pissed, but all i keep thinking about is a freaking leo in with a bci this is so freaking WRONG....
Any advice???
Jamie

The moment he said "you can have them if you want them" you found yourself a defence for removing them from his care. Get them to safety.
Good luck

Record on the phone, or by tape what he sais so you have proof that he HAD a leo. But some people do use leos as feeders, this is just nature. the problem is he has a sick leo and if eaten the snake could get sick and die too.
And tell the idiot that they are not hugging.
Or you could get the snake which is probably all that is left and bring it to a herp vet immedietely and buy a tank big enough, or give to a reptile rescue.,

I don't know if I would bring them into my home, cause what if all of your animals get the same disease?
Yes, call the Humane Society..

well you could take them, put them both into quarantine, try and help the gecko out as much as you can (assuming its not food yet) and if you really dont want to care for either of them, bring up to helathy standards, and make some bucks off of them...atleast they have a better chance, and you get to make some money for yourself...seems like a win win situation to me?

So your saying if you had a sick gecko thats not yours, you would carelessly sell it to die in some one elses hands while you go happy with a couple bucks?

Problems taken care of...
I myself am caring for "sick" leos myself (MY leos, my problem and no i would never give mine up), i don't want to bring more problems into my home. I don't have the time now or the money to deal with that. Plus i have already given my friend plenty of mealworms for his leos, offered them free cause i was breeding them, i gave him parazap and mice for his snakes, should i have to take care of my animals and his. I think to myself, no i shouldn't but i still do...
The whole point of me saying that was i've tried alot of things even helped out at my own expense when possible. So should i take food and supplies away from my collection to care for his, do i bring in more sick animals over expanding my own collection with healthy speices.
I can't do that anymore so the right measures were taken and everything is going to be alright i hope. I guess i'll find out more tomorrow...when i do i'll let you all know.
