Question Tips before I buy...

My girlfriend and I are planning to get a bearded dragon. We will have a 66 gal tank for it. We have a full length fluorescent fixture for the UVA/UVB bulb and I will heat the tank with a combination of an UTH and a basking light during the day.

I was thinking that the tank might be too big for a baby so I plan to either put a smaller tank in the bigger one for a while or wall off a smaller section of the big tank. Is this necessary?

We will start feeding it small crickets and offer a few recommended veggies. Can it also eat meal worms and/or silkworms when it's very young or should I wait until it gets bigger?

Any tips for a soon-to-be first time beardie owner?

Wait for the lil' bugger to get larger before you start to feed him mealies, they tend to cause impaction which is a no - no. Either then that, keep them temperatures way high ( 110 F ) and enjoy :P

I put mine in a 4x2x2 when i first got it. the only problem i found was that it was hard for it to find its food. As said, stay away from mealworms even it just "shedded" its shell. silks should be ok(the real small ones). and when you see them basking with there mouth open or not at the highest point under the light you may want to lower the heat. my temp under the light if about 95o.
hotside=85-90, cool=85-80o
Good luck,
