New here, thought I ought to be on a forum somewhere.
Currently have just one ball python.
Historically I have had dozens of Garter snakes (they used to be all over the yard, just would pick em up and bring them in). Also 2 kings snakes and some corn snakes.
Looking soon to get a small snake. Milk snake maybe, or hognose or even smaller (anyone selling a Bimini Blind Snake?).
If you're looking for a small snake I think a male hognose may be a great choice. They are awesome little pets.
If that's the route you go, make sure he's a well-established eater. Males especially can be very tricky at first when it comes to eating. They also are more prone to going off food during breeding season.
Females tend to be easier feeders, but get a bit bigger.
I have a male in a 10 gallon that's his "forever" enclosure. It still makes me chuckle that he'll never outgrow it. Females would require a 20 gallon, but still very small as far as snakes go.
I'm looking at the Sand Boa already. Just would Like a cute little snake in the collection. I'd Also kinda like to add a Rainbow Boa to the collection here. Just not very fond of the Hog Nosed Snakes. As to their eating habits, I breed mice, and the snakes love the live mice.
