Thoughts on pine bark?

I just wonder what's your thoughts on using pine bark as substrate for a snake's enclosure?

Re: Thoughts on pine bark?

Kiln dried pine has the oils baked out of it so in theory it would be ok, but I still don't trust it. As a rule I just avoid anything with pine in it.

Re: Thoughts on pine bark?

It makes a good mulch. I use it around the house for Azaleas. I find I still need an acid fertilizer in the spring, though. I would pass on using it for my snakes, could be lots of insects in those bags.
