Wow. I'm still a bit in shock over this! I got a new snake this morning, almost completely unplanned, which is not something I would usually do and certainly something I would generally advise against.
I was checking out the pets section of my local Craigslist, planning to post a listing for my foster doggie. Wouldn't you know it, the first post that came up was titled, "SNAKES MUST GO ASAP". Of course, I had to look. Wouldn't you know it, there was a pretty little butter motley for only $30. I offered the guy $20 and, shortly after, went to pick her up! I've always wanted another butter, ever since my Nellie passed away as a baby. I was planning to look around for a new addition this coming weekend at the All Animal Expo. It was meant to be! Top pics are her on my hand and in her new home, bottom ones are from the seller's place.
I don't know too much about her. The guy said he got her from a breeder, but couldn't say which one. He didn't know her date of birth, but said that she was a yearling. However, she turned out to be considerably bigger than I was expecting! I weighed her today and she's just over 180g. That seems pretty hefty for a yearling, no? Perhaps if she's almost two? I didn't see how she was being kept, but she seems healthy overall. She did have a bit of retained shed on her tail tip and when I got her home and into her new enclosure, she drank sooo much water! Poor thing.
She's been nothing but sweet through the whole process and seems to be settling in well. Still haven't named her, but I'm considering Finch. Like a goldfinch!
