Re: Outside Pics from today.
More pictures!
He also everted, I was mad that I didn't get the picture. Maybe I will have another chance. I was also wondering if he was big for his age or was he small for his age? He hatched from his egg on June 26, 2012.

Re: Outside Pics from today.
If he was hatched that long ago, he is quite small for his age.. How much has he been fed?

Fed until he doesn't want anymore. The pet shop I got him from the dude said he and his siblings that where there at the time were captive hatched. He had them a month before I bought it, so I picked him up in July. The guy had them on play sand with a 75 watt bulb and a water bowl, so I believe that his growth was stunted. Knowing that the first few months are very important for to start growing right, he is slowly catching up. I believe Littlefoot and Cera are in the 3 foot range, correct me if I'm wrong. I measured him today(hardest thing ever) and he was 2 foot 9 inches. I'm going to get some rats and start breeding them, he is already taking down adult mice and those trips to the pet store are hell. I thought about ordering them online but the pet store I go to, the guy gives me adult mice for 50 cent a piece He has an nile monitor and understands that I need them He is curently getting crickets, night crwalers, mice, and super worms.

Re: Outside Pics from today.
Hi, when you say the monitor hatched on that specific date it must have been cbb (captive born and bred). May I ask how much you paid for him?
If the monitor had been there one month it`s growth would not be stunted to any great extent.
If the animal is now around 9 months of age you`re doing very well, considering they measure approx 12 to 15cm (5 to 6inches) ToL at birth. That`s an increase of 67cm (27inches), or 3 inches per month, on average (well done)!

Thanks, nice to know I'm doing a good job. He said his friend breeds them, I just got off the phone with him. I paid $50(I know that's way too much but I had to have it). He also had a VERY dark one that was almost jet black, he was charging $200 for it though.

Hi again, I doubt VERY much they were captive bred in your country, most likely captive farmed in Africa (it would cost a lot more than $50 for a true cbb I would imagine)!
He looks in excellent condition, that`s what a healthy CAPTIVE Savannah monitor should look like at all life stages (especially when full grown)!

I agree with you on that, lol. I'm happy that I am doing a good job. I want another one but I have to get a rat colony going first. I would like to learn how to breed night crawlers, I've tried before but it didn't seem to work. When I mixed and flipped the dirt a few weeks ago I seen baby earthworms in the dirt and I know I didn't put them in there so I guess the bio-active substrate is working in more than one way

Nevermind then, two foot nine is a lot better than two feet. I doubt a month of bad care would have a huge effect.
