Getting a Savannah Monitor is this a good Temp tank?

This is going to be a temp tank for a baby savannah monitor for maybe 1-2 months its a 29 gallon, i have 1 foot of sandy soil, a basking spot of 135-150 ambient temps 70-80, i have a humidifyer for the humidity and it stays at a constant 65-80, I have acoupe coark bark logs in the back left cornor so he can go in there to cool off if he wants. Let me know if you think its good or bad ill be getting the sav in like 1-2 weeks then ill be able to build the 7x4x4 enclsoure when i move then it will go in there so that will hopfully be done in 1 month if not 2 months tops.

IMO it appears that it would work. You will hear a lot about glass tanks being bad for monitors, which they usually are. However, it doesn't matter so long as the cage is holding the humidity and heat the monitor needs, which it appears yours is.

I would say the adult cage should be a bit bigger though.

it will be outgrown in about a month to six weeks.

given proper support, they put on an inch a week+

oh really well i dont really want to like waste my money on building a temp cage because it will out grow it faster, if i give it proper temps and humidity but hold back on the feeding a little bit will it slow down the growth a little or will that just mess it all up? because i could maybe wait on getting one and just build the adult enclsoure first

At least, yes. Even that will still be the bare minimum, if you can go bigger I would advise you to do so. They can live in an 8x4x4, sure. But their behavior will be so much more interesting in an even larger cage.

I'd wait on getting the animal until you have a larger enclosure ready. There's plenty of savannah's for sale so no hurry.

I started mine right out in an adult size enclosure, no regrets.

And please don't attempt to stunt any animals growth, I will lose all respect before we even get started.

Read over my web site like gospel.

get a burrowing tarantula, easy to look after and care for, wont need to remove any substrate and would make an excellent feature in any room.

go for something interesting that will build a web, something like the Socotra Island Blue Baboon or the green bottle blue, or the cobalt blue.

Or leave the substrate, depending on the species you get.. Perhaps try a species of skink, and keep it like a monitor. Species tend to thrive across the board when you apply monitor-keeping principles to their care..

Are those rocks supported or could an animal burrow undere them and get squished?
