Cool quick question concerning new flexarium

Today I bought a bigger flexarium for my veiled chameleon. If I were to rest an 80w uv basking lamp on the top, would it burn through? I currently have it suspended a couple of cm above just to see how it fares.

Also for anyone in the UK do B&Q sell any plants etc suitable for a 4ft flex?

Cheers

Re: quick question concerning new flexarium

I've not owned one, but at reptile shows, I have seen them hanging upside down from the top screen - I would think placing the lamp right on top, if they did do that, would cause issues.

As for burning through the material - I know I accidentally almost started a fire at Christmas time when I didn't realize a 65 watt was turned on and placed down on carpet. Melted away a circle of the carpet until I smelled smoke. So, guess it would depend on what the screen was made of -plastic, metal, fiberglass, etc.

Re: quick question concerning new flexarium

Suppose he will hang up there once he starts to explore.

Lol sore one mate! Its made of a plastic mesh material. The light is currently suspended aprox 3cm above the top though so not sure if its a safe distance.
