Retic Breeding season off to a great start at Vital Exotics

Hey guys, I have been a lurker on here for quite some time, but never really had time to post much....well I am making time for it so here you go...I will try to keep you guys updated on whats going on over here....

Well our Reticulated Python breeding season is off to a great start!

I have a 2008 Platinum Female that was bred by a Platinum Het Albino male. She is about 3 weeks away from dropping her clutch. I am looking forward to producing some white snakes in this clutch...

Here are a few lock photos:

Here she is after pre lay shed, starting to get inverted:

I also have a really crazy looking 66% PH Anthrax Female that has been bred by an Anthrax male. These should make some really crazy patterned and dark offspring.

Lock photos:

Even breeding while she is shedding:

Breeding #3 is a 62.5% Super Dwarf 25% Jampea (Dwarf) Purple SNOW to a White Albino 50% Jampea (Dwarf). This is the first step to making Lavender and White Snows! This breeding will make some really nice small and medium sized SD and Dwarf bloodline Lavender Albinos het SNOW! I am very excited about this one!

Breeding pics:

I will keep you guys posted....There will also be breeding pages with photos and info posted soon on all my projects at Home

Congrats Kris, can't wait to see white phase snows.
Nick, pure superdwarfs (Kalatoa localities) will top out under 8ft, that breeding will result in 31.25% SD, 37.5% Jamp, 31.25% mainland. I would venture they'll stay around the same size as most jamps.

Thanks guys.

Nick, this female Dwarf is around 10' and the SD male is around 6', so they should stay fairly small. That is what I am shooting for with most of my breedings, making cool stuff in small and medium packages!

Too cool and way jealous! Can't wait to see a white snow! I also love how you have them in naturalistic vivs. Don't see that too often anymore.

How big do super dwarfs get on average? I'd like to get a normal retic or an albino burmese but everyone I know that lives close dislikes snakes so I won't have any assistance with handling..

True SD's should max out at six to eight feet butit does depend on the percentage of Dwarfin the snake. breeders should be able to tell you the size of both parents to give a rough idea

That's smaller then my female Guyana will get.. My next snake in a year or so is definitely going to be a super dwarf.

Mines fantastic. All the attitude and attack of a retic but able to be handled by one person, bloody strong though! Regularly will leave bruising just from holding onto my arm!

Re: Retic Breeding season off to a great start at Vital Exotics

Thanks guys! Yea, I really enjoy the Dwarf and SD Retics....All the benefits we want out of a Retic, but smaller and more manageable sizes! Really Crazy pattern influences too! The Platinum female in this thread should be dropping a clutch any day now....I will post pics when she does.
