Perry, hatched Feb/Mar 2010 came to us along with Kevin after a couple of feeds. Very active snake, nearly always out on the prowl around his viv. Strikes his food like a train and loops a couple of coils around before rolling around the viv like a croc doing a deathroll!!

This is the guy that tried to eat one of my fingers!

Doing the "Perryscope"

Trying to eat his food bowl!

I guess when we got the two babies we got the brightest and the darkest by accident!! I have a good bond with Perry, when we first put them in their "big" viv the vivs were second hand and i missed a hole that they both went through (used to house them together but didnt work out). Kevin has always been slightly smaller so he went straight through.

When i found him Perry had about 3 inches of his body out of the hole and was stuck fast, i sat on the floor and let him rest his head on my hand and over about 45 minutes helped him gradually pull himself through the hole - htere was no way he would retreat he had to get through. It damaged some of his scales on his back which you can still see close up on his pattern but apart from the stress of it he came through ok. Apart from when he tried to swallow one of my fingers! I feel that he kinda trusts me in some sort of primal way to not hurt him - probably total mumbo jumbo but have had this feeling with a few different animals that have allowed me to help them in some way.

Unfortunately the mouse was a little small this feed - all they had in the shop! By the time i had figured how to turn off the flash on my phone he had finished - just sucked it straight down.

Re: Profile : Perry

Have any of you found safe ways of removing a snake that's biting you? (without hurting you or the snake)
The 2 ways I have found are to either submerge the snakes head under water till he lets go, and mouth wash.

Re: Profile : Perry

This guy tried to swallow my finger, i held him under the cold tap for about ten minutes before he decided to let go, there were no obvious ill effects to him.

Re: Profile : Perry

KK, I normally put just a touch of mouthwash in their mouth and they let go right away (the really mind low alcohol one) I'll try cold water next time, it seams less invasive.

Re: Profile : Perry

That was my thought, would rather be chewed on for an hour than injure the snake.
