Just some nice pics: Jasper
We've had Jasper for two years or so now. He's almost 12! Over 4 feet long.
He has a nice 60 gallon tank he cruises around in, though most of the time he sleeps. He sleeps a LOT. I have wondered if he's older than we were told, when we got him, since he's so large (snakes never stop growing, after all) and he's kind of just...old looking lol
Anyway, here's some nice photos of him soaking. He was blowing bubbles at me. So cute!
First a feeding pic. This one actually goes with the good glottis shots i had of him on another post.

Now the pretty ones. BTW this is only the second time i've ever seen him soak. He must have just felt like it, humidity is perfect in the snake room. Still pretty cute and i like how he looks in the bowl cuz he's so big!

Re: Just some nice pics: Jasper
I've seen a few soak in water. Usually it's due to having mites or not enough humidity. Alot of rescues I took in had mites and would do this until I got rid of them.
I did have a ball python that loved the water and would soak for hours. I never saw signs of mites, never had a humidity issue with her. She just loved water. Some snakes just do.

Re: Just some nice pics: Jasper
nick! i will take some just for you! i need updated ones of them, the old photos i have are grainy.
jasper is awesome. I think it's the time of year. He's very sensitive to humidity...when it rains, he goes crazy looking for a female (ball pythons and other snakes do this, wanting to breed..watch them, when it rains!)
and about this time last year he spent a day or so in his water dish. I have an older photo i'll find. A whole year between soaks! lol though i have given him sprays and mists.
I wurb him : )

Re: Just some nice pics: Jasper
pink, they can hold their breath for a long time, depends on the size of the snake. they wont' drown themselves though...they will come up, or peek their noses even if they're scared. Jasper actually was fully under the water being a brat, but i was cleaning the snake room and periodically taking pics, and he slowly stuck his nose out, then his head : )
