Hi! New to the forum and Snakes!!!
Hi my name is Jessica, and I just got my first snake a week ago a 4mos old Corn Snake, and yesterday I got a 4 year old chocolate banana king snake. Both are getting ready to shed. Which reminds me, do you feed a shedding snake?

Many snakes have no interest in food while in shed.

Re: Hi! New to the forum and Snakes!!!
I have 8 snakes and none of them have any interest in eating when they are in shed... I used to try and see if they still wanted food, but after doing that a few times I just decided to not bother... Most of them wont even come out of their hides when they are in shed.

Re: Hi! New to the forum and Snakes!!!
Just offer it and see. My boa will eat while in shed (he's an eating machine), but my ball python will not. So it depends on the snake. And welcome to the forum!

Re: Hi! New to the forum and Snakes!!!
I think it's individual to the snake - both of my snakes will take if they're really hungry and about to shed. One time when one of my BP's was young I offered her food during her shed and she was so near to rubbing it off herself that it popped open the shed and the next day she shed it off whole. My other refuses to eat before a shed unless she's very hungry - but she's always been a fussy eater until recently.

Re: Hi! New to the forum and Snakes!!!
After a few attempts you will "learn" YOUR snakes behaviours and will npknow whether to bother trying to feed or not

hello_there_sit_sign.jpg
11 of my 13 snakes will eat even when in shed. My female Blood will some time and some time she won't. I only have one snake that will turn down food every time in shed and that's my smaller male Blood.
