Akward ovulation circumstance?

Hello,

My two coastal carpets have been cooled off for about 2 month and a half plus .. they were introduced to each other in the middle of that for a period of 3 days just to see if the male would have any interest, He showed none at all .. so back to their own quarters again ..

4 days ago I introduced the femaleto the male and about 12 hours later (when I woke up .. I caught them matting .. I imagine they had been going at it for a bit during the night).

After such, for the past 2 days, nothing at all - that I have seen . I now have seperated the male for the next three days but the weirdest thing is happening ..

My female is ovulating>??? She is usually about the size .. hmmm.. a bit smaller then a tennis ball around but today or even right now .. she is a little bit bigger than the size of a baseball!

I never though that I would be unhappy that one of my snake ovulated.. to me this does not seem like the right outcome unless there was mating prior or retain sperm wich I HIGHLY DOUBT. She was bred too by 2 different males last year very often but never ovulated)..

What are your thoughs on this ..

Ohh and of course she is refusing food - so is the male..

Dom

Hi,

Ovulation can happen as little as 5 days after mating succesfully, so she may in fact be ovulating normally.

Also, I noticed that this year my IJ female went into what looked like a false ovulation. She swelled up to a point where you could see the skin between her scales, and in everyone's opinion she was ovulating. However, a few days later, she and the male were going at it again! The male served as a "gravidity meter" for me, and showed that she hadn't at all ovulated. I don't know what was up with that, but I think she is really ovulating tonight. *crosses fingers*

Anywayz, good luck, hope she lays lots of eggs for ya!
