Caution: I eat faces
Acquired this 6ft JCP in February from a private owner who had it for 2 yrs but didn`t want to take care of it any more as it was supposedly too agressive for them.
The owner wouldn`t handle/spot clean/replenish water unless the big boy was in its hide.. Considering he spends 95% of his time on his perches, the poor guy never got the care that a snake of this caliber diserves. I was able to handle him the second night i got him.
He was bluffing the whole time the previous owner had him. He only hisses ALOT and nose bumps once in a while. Never attempted to strike at me. Seems like the previous owners never really tried to improve its temperment or they just didnt really cared about it.
Glad I took him with me! He seems much happier now!
Cheers!

Re: Caution: I eat faces
Well I'm glad you got him out of where he was. My Jungle *never* hit the ground of his enclosure unless he got a whiff of a rat and then BAM - he'd point down to the ground and wait for that rat to drop. They sure do love their branches, even more so than most other Carpets I've worked with.
I'm sure that given a few weeks you'll see a really marked difference in his behaviour. They do have memory, so he likely won't forget any mistakes or foolishness attached to people thanks to his pervious keeper, but it won't take long for him to realize that you're on his side, and they're a pretty forgiving snake, so I'm sure he'll start thriving for you.
Keep us posted, and it's always nice to see someone else from Ottawa here

Nice Carpet, I like the pic where he's hanging out of his enclosure.
