Gap in vision cage glass.
I know this is an enclosure question but it is specific to Crotalus. I've always been a little worried with how flat they can make themselves and the gap between the two panes of sliding glass in vision cages. I've been stuffing it with a paper towel rolled up small.
How big of a gap should I be worried about, would the width of their head be a good judgement on the smallest gap they could get through?
Does anyone else have this issue with the glass on vision cages, and if so what do you do to fix it?

some foam tape of the type to seal gaps , or a thick bead of silicone.

Re: Gap in vision cage glass.
Thanks, that's one option. Can anyone answer the question of how flat they can get and how big of a gap I should worry about?

Re: Gap in vision cage glass.
...Is this one of those stupid question that doesn't deserve an answer? Or is it that no one has any idea or input?

How big is the gap between the glass doors?

Re: Gap in vision cage glass.
and how wide is the smallest part of the snake? (rather, "height"... from ground to back) at the neck area for example?

Re: Gap in vision cage glass.
That's what i'm having trouble determining. Normally way to big to be any concern. But when they flatten out like this I don't know exactly how flat it is(it looks pretty freakin flat) and have no way of measuring them like that.
Ugh was just about to hit post and I got a call. I hate retpying.

Re: Gap in vision cage glass.
Hmm... yes, looks like he could flatten out enough to get out. I'd definitely look into covering it... either with more paper like you're used to doing, or what Tekpc007 recommended.

Re: Gap in vision cage glass.
Well putting a wedge to block it has worked for 2 years. It's really difficult to get out, but i'd like something more permanent and easier on the eyes.
Anyone else with a vision cage have this problem or gap at all?

Re: Gap in vision cage glass.
You can glue a small trip of wood or plastic to the glass just thick enough to still allow sliding of the glass. But you would have to relocate your snake until all fumes and odors from the glue are gone.

Re: Gap in vision cage glass.
He could squeeze out easy, had bigger get out of vision cages (part of the reason I hate them). Just use weather stripping.
