I kept mine on cypress, heat 85 warm end, and 70 cool end, always kept humidity aroind 80 percent.

There are amazing brb keepers on here and will point you on the right directing.

Re: rainbow boa wtf is right

that is what i used to. depending on age of the BRB, i would do lower heat for a baby, and as they get older keep it around 84-85, babies i would suggest 80. too hot can easily kill a baby.

but that is from rainbows r us, very good breeder!!

if Snakesitter, from Living gems chime in, he can help ya as well, both know there rainbows!

Re: rainbow boa wtf is right

Hey,

I use bark substrate and mist as needed (humidity above 80%). I provide a three hides for her: a humid hide (the middle magnetic hide with some moss in it) which she loves to use (shes in there now..i'll try to get a pic in a minute and post), a hide on the warm and a hide on the cool side.

The only thing I would say regarding the humidity is to try working with the water dish and some moss to raise the humidity without drenching the substrate...damp and humid are not the same thing. Also look to where you have your humidity detector...try placing it in different areas of the viv to understand how the humidity varies throughout. Also if you provide a humid hide it allows a safeguard to play around with general humidity and get it right.

At first though, if the entire substrate is wet, I would ensure there is at least one hide with a 'dry' floor.

I keep my temps at 82 hot side and 74 cool side. She has a water bath under the heat bulb with some moss next to it which really helps the humidity. I also have a middle water basin and a small drinking bowl which gives her constant fresh drinking water.

I feed her once every 7days. She takes f/t rats around the same size as her diameter at her widest point and I try to feed her 10-15% of her body weight.

She usually takes 12-14days to shed and will continue to eat right through although I don't handle her when she is due to shed. She will shed 2days after she regains colour from being 'in blue' and has had perfect shed each time for me in these conditions.

I use a glass viv with a heat lamp although most keepers find a UTH a better heat source as it can support humidity better. Also many keepers prefer plastic vivs as glass need some work to support the temps and fix up the mesh top to retain humidity...although as a display I prefer glass and think the work is worth it.

As you can see in the pic below I offer lots of hanging plants as this provides both cover for her to feel secure but also that she will often be found climbing and traversing them.

Hope this helps

Here's the viv....it's 3ft wide x 2ft high x 1ft deep. She's 3ft long ATM.
