Piebald belly markings?
I've been looking into piebalds as I'm currently in contact with someone looking to sell his piebald and albino ball python. My boyfriend is really interested in the piebald so I've been looking up some things about them out of curiousity.
Several places I've read that a Het Piebald will have black markings on their belly? But I thought if they were Het that meant they wouldn't show the gene physically? So is this true or not?
And with piebalds being a morph that's price varies all over, what would you guys say would be a good price for him? He's free other than his shipping fee C:

Re: Piebald belly markings?
There are no such things as het pied markers. I've hatched a few dozen het pieds in the last few years and the marker is evident in about 50% of them.
This Old Wives Tale needs to finally be laid to rest.

Re: Piebald belly markings?
A het does not show the color of the morph. It just holds the gene so if you breed it it has the possibility of producing piebald. Free seems a little to good. Is it a het because if it is a het and you aren't looking to breed then I would keep looking because they don't have the color of a piebald.

A free piebald sound fish to me. Have you seen pictures? If so does it looked sickly or under fed?

Re: Piebald belly markings?
^ Thats my thinking. It seems way to good to be true even if it is a het.

Re: Piebald belly markings?
Alright thanks for clarifying the markings myth c:
And yes I've seen pictures. The guy wrote me a very lengthy email about wanting a home that will be good for the snakes well being, he moved and doesn't have the time for them. He's not looking for money just some one who will put the snakes need ahead of their own. Both the pie and the albino, both his snakes, look very healthy. Their tanks clean and he provided pictures of them on scales and they have healthy weights

Re: Piebald belly markings?
The snake is a female and she shows her markings. The guy said I could pay 50$ now and then pay off the other hundred over the course of a few months after receiving her.
Should I post the pictures of her?

Re: Piebald belly markings?
You got him! If you did you definitly show them. If you haven't bought them just go there and look at them to make sure he is legit. If he is then good I would say go for it.

Re: Piebald belly markings?
I would definitly get it. I just wouldn't pay totally in advance because if he is scamming you then he shouldn't get your money. Just pay him the 50$ and pay the rest later.

That's what he said we could do c:
The albino is very nice too but I don't have enough to get him as well nor the logic but if you're interested I could send you the guys email? The albino is free as well, just have to pay shipping

Re: Piebald belly markings?
Wish I would get him but the shipping and all that would be ridiculous because I am in Canada. That is a great price.
