one of my girls is having a problem
Hi all,
I just moved my 2 girls up to fuzzys. Muffy is doing fine with it. Chloe has regurgitated 2 in a row. My son says her eyes are a little cloudy like she's fixing to shed. Should I move her back to pinkys? She doeesn't seem lethargic or anything. Temps and humidity are good. Any ideas?

Re: one of my girls is having a problem
If she regurgitated don't feed her for 10 days at least. Once it's time to feed again feed only a pink head. You need to start very small and give her time to build up her stomach fluid. If she keeps down the pink head you can feed her again in a week. Make sure you still only feed a very small meal. After a few weeks of building her back up and she is keeping them down go ahead and offer full size prey.

I thinks its simple. If she was fine in pinkys go back to pinkys. Wait a few months and try the fuzzys again.

Re: one of my girls is having a problem
My bci Gabby regurgitated 3 Fuzzies after like 5 days. So I fed him hairless mice on the next 3 feeds and switched to adult mice and he was fine.

Re: one of my girls is having a problem
all the above advice is sound - wait a longer period for stomach to return to "normal" before feeding again and feed a smaller item for a couple of feeds before moving back up in size.

I would give her at least a week if you're gonna give her a pink.

Re: one of my girls is having a problem
I have been told that stomach acids are regurged along with the food item and it really tears up a snakes throat, hence the wait for healing and de-stressing.

Re: one of my girls is having a problem
Update- it's been 8 days since she last ate. Gave her a pink last night and she took it without hesitation. She also shed a couple of days ago. Checked the tank tonight and no upchucked pinkies.. will keep monitoring it.

Re: one of my girls is having a problem
That is good news but it was a risky shot by feeding her a full pink so soon. Please do some research on regurgitation and work to get back into feeding slowly next time.

Re: one of my girls is having a problem
Glad it has worked out so far.
If it ever happens again though, Cathy Love's plan (corn breeder forever and author of corn care book)
do not feed anything for 10 days (reason is that regurges cause a reduction of stomach acids, lack of which could cause slow digestion which can lead to food rotting in the snakes gut)
purchase gut flora powder or grapfruit extract (do not use both, choose one) and dip 1/2 pinkie in it and feed
continue this for 2 more weekly feedings leading up to full sized prey (still being dipped in the powder or extract for an additional 5-7 weekly feedings)
hope this helps in any future regurges!!
