Purchasing Adult Male Biak GTP have some questions
Howdy All, I am Looking For some assistance IN seeting up a cage for an adult Male Biak GTP i will be aquiring soon
I currently Have a 90 x 45 x 90 cm / 36” x 18” x 36” (WxDxH) Exo Terra Glass Viv that i am going to be using, I am Wondering How much more humidity is needed when compared to carpets, As well as any other housing differences, I know Perches are important, but im curious about the following
Should i find some kind of Elevated hide box,
Should i use coconut husk for its ability to hold humidity or stick with reptibark
Should i get som glass to cover some of the mesh to increase humidity
Should i invest in a fogger/mister
And Of Course, How many pictures should i post when i get him :P
As always your assistance is greatly apreciated
He is for a Carpondro project I am starting

Re: Purchasing Adult Male Biak GTP have some questions
you wont need an elevated hide you can use greenery for cover
coco husk works fine
and in my opinion you should invest in a fogger or mister

Re: Purchasing Adult Male Biak GTP have some questions
went Hight first actually
a front opening exo terra manufacturers measurments 90 x 45 x 90 cm / 36” x 18” x 36” (WxDxH)
As a Carpet Guy 90% of my caging is done from an arboreal point of view

^^ Wicked, I stand by the rest of what I said though lol
I would also use removable perches since its easier if you have to move the animal.

Re: Purchasing Adult Male Biak GTP have some questions
I use mostly Grapevine, they are large, but still easily removed, I wont be handling him to much, Monthly probably, I also have a portable out of cage perch for cleaning, so if there is a nasty mess, I can carefully transfer him to that with very little stress for him, Hes Gorgeous, I intend to pair him with my Female Jungle Carpet, as in my opinion Biaks make for the best carpondros
As for the mister gulp
the only one i would get is a monsoon and they are like 80-100 bucks (

Re: Purchasing Adult Male Biak GTP have some questions
THe humidity needs to vary during the day, i spray mine to 80% in the morning and early evening, in between it drops to no less that 55-60%. With a mesh top there is no way that you will be able to hold the humidity levels high enough in my opinion, i have mine in a solid wood vivarium with small vents and one day we didnt quite shut the door (it was open less than a millimeter) and the humidity dropped like a stone.
I use reptibark, it keeps the humidity fine, never tried coconut husk.

Coco Husk Absorbs Water Like you wouldnt believe, for higher humidity i mix it with moss, The Mesh Top has had 3 of the four panels sealed with plexi, the heating element replaced the fourth, since i do however still have many places for the humidity to escape, I am Going to Add a Humidifier, that will run on a low setting keeping it no lower than 60, With a monsoon that i will be purchasing set to sprinkle twice a day
That should replicate an ideal environment nicely, If Problems are still had, ill just go buy a few sheets of birch plywood and build a new cage
Thank You Again for all your advice, Hopefully he likes sweethart, and i can get some nice carpondros next season
