Colour Changing Ball Python?
Hi there,
I was looking at my male het pied BP today and noticed that he had gained some white markings along his back and behind his head, as well as a little spot on his head between his nostril and eye. He had just shed the previous day so I'm guessing that is what had possibly caused it? He had some light speckling along his back when I first got him about a month ago.
I have heard of BP's changing or altering their colour as they age but I'm not sure about the white markings. I am lead to believe its a normal thing as he is het pied but I haven't come across it before.
p.s. I still haven't figured out a name for him yet D: Any suggestions? He super energetic, always sneaking around, and loves to periscope :P

Nice looking, but having the gene and any white would make him a very lo white, wouldn't it!!
I have always been told that when you can tell a "visible het" (no one jump on me, I know it's disputed that there is such a thing) that it has something to do with markings near the tail

I know right? I was getting pretty excited because of that! I'm excited to see him in the future (hopefully the white will come out more! :P )
Yes, I have heard of that too. His belly is clear and near his tail the black markings are connected just along his belly on either side. I've heard that it is an indication but not to completely go by it.

Re: Colour Changing Ball Python?
Mystic is already a known morph.
Also, the whitening of parts of a ball is not uncommon, but no more common with a het pied.
Which does NOT have a visible het form.

I wasn't saying call the morph mystic... I was saying name the snake mystic. I had never heard of the morph though... good to know.

Mystic was a name suggestion, not a morph suggestion :P But I looked it up and it's pretty neat that there is a morph called that!
I know that there is a lot of controversy with the het markers, but I received this little guy from a reputable breeder and I've known him for a while. I'm sure in the future that he will prove out. Thanks for the comment!
