Got my designer mice in :)
My buddy sold me 2 pairs of mice today, pure black on top, silver bellies and black bow ties on their necks... stunning little guys! Can't wait to start working with them...
Anyone know why the males and females screech at each other so much... looks like wrestling... I'm keeping them in 2 colonies of 1.1

Re: Got my designer mice in :)
I'm curious, are they food or pets?

Re: Got my designer mice in :)
They will be bred as pets, can't feed anything that small to any of my animals.
Squirmy lil guys, gona need to wait till they calm down for photos.
I've got a few mouse breeders who want babies, we don't think the morph has hit the market yet.
the bow tie is almost impossible to photograph the way they tuck their arms in. I'll need to wait for Kayla for that.

Re: Got my designer mice in :)
Are you sure they are male and female. I had a really mean female that developed testicles after 4½ months. He has breed all three of my last 3 litter.

You'll get a few nips but you should wait for them to choose to climb onto your hand. Put your hand in their enclosure and let them come up it, sniff it, and climb it. This will make them more likely to trust you. They'll eventually associate your smell with nice things- like getting pet, going out in a ball, etc. Keep the sessions short (3-5mins) and slowly increase the time as they get more comfortable. Don't ever pick them up by their tail or by the scruff. Rodents make great pets and they can be really friendly once they know you My hamster is so used to me that I can pick him up by his little hands and make him "dance." He tolerates everything. Hence the name Marsh mellow (instead of Marshm allow)

Re: Got my designer mice in :)
Bahaha that would be hilarious! The guy we got them from is a really good friend, who has been breeding mice for years, he sexed them as 2.2
Now Stephan on the other hand decided to put them all together by accident before realizing mice might not be like rats and don't like cohabitation with 2 males, and we had to separate them again ourselves so we could have mixed them up... but we've tried a few different pairs and we are pretty sure we've gotten it right this time..
