More enclosure questions about melamine

So i am building 3 melamine enclosures as you all know, my question is, since my BRB don't need High humidity, could i just make it out of a cheaper wood? like aspen (like my rack) or something like that? maybe even plywood?

as for my BRB and black blood (when/if i get him/her) i know they need humidity, so melamine is for them, just curious about the beardie...

no...

I wouldnt recomend melamine regardless, but if you cheap out and go plywood it will be full of mold in a month and rotted in a year.

You could buy Pond Armor, and seal the plywood. but that would cost more than melamine

Why is melamine bad? I've seen several people praising it.

melamine is good.....works well. if you go plywod or aspen then if any water gets spilled itll start to rot and deteriorate.

I think the "wouldn't recommend Melamine" was a typo.

What?? Why doesn't your BRB need high humidity? They should maintain a constant high humidity upwards 90% at times. How did you just decide yours doesn't need high humidity?

I saw them both and assumed (never safe) that it was a typo that he put they don't need high humidity.

No.. no it wasnt

I personally hate the crap

Not only is it pricey, it's heavy
And if/ when the melamine lets go. it falls apart.

That covering isn't water proof.. Sorry to tell you.

It will eventually go. It's better to build a solid tank out of plywood. and varathane it. or get pond armor.

Sorry guys, it is suppose to be " my beardie doesn't need high humidity" ... my brb and black blood will he getting melamine, I was just wondering if I could use aspen or pay wood for my bearded dragons cage instead, since they are more desert-ish and needs dryer humidity... that was a typo in the beginning of the 1st post, sorry guys.

I can see the pond armor being a good solution to keeping moisture out, and its non-toxic. Do you just "paint on" the varathane and let it dry and it won't hurt the animals either?

I actually use famowood Glaze coat 2 part epoxy on the inside of my viv's. You can actually poor water in my viv and it won't cause any problems. Its equal to 60 coats of sealant and it only takes 1 application and 2 days to dry. I build my viv's with a higher quality plywood.
If you think you are going to have any moisture issues this will solve them all. I have to say its not really cheap but its also not that bad of a price for the product you will be getting.

I think we are all a little confused on what im asking.... can i use a different wood, such as aspen or plywood for my bearded dragon???

my black blood, and BRB will get MELAMINE, but if i can a cheaper one for my bearded dragon, i would like to do so...
