Question Feeding Live or F/T?

Some of you know my current situation with Schnitzel, & how she hasn't ate since Winter and since she has scale rot now. I plan on reintroducing food to her after her shed in a couple days.
I was looking up some things about if it's better to feed live or F/T and I'm a little scared on feeding her live. Mainly because I saw some awful pictures/videos on the snakes being the victim and getting bit and stuff.
I'm iffy now and I really don't want Schnit to get hurt, you know?
So could some of you please inform me of other dangers/advantages of feeding live over F/T and vice-versa?

I just don't want my baby to get hurt since she looks a little fragile and thin...

Re: Feeding Live or F/T?

It's generally easier to feed live, but once they switch to F/T they take that readily.

Re: Feeding Live or F/T?

There are no dangers feeding frozen/Thawed. It's safe and cost efficient.
Feeding live (unless necessary) is a stupid, inhumane practice. You take the risk of your snake being brutally bitten and scratched. There are a lot of people who like to think if they supervise it will be ok. It does not take long for a rat to take a chunk out of a snake, also there is no way you will have enough time to reach in before disaster happens. Others that feed live are the keepers who think its so cool how a snake kills its prey. Keeping rats in the freezer is way cheaper then buying live, or even breeding.
Feed F/T NOT LIVE. If your snake is not eating, wait it out then offer a nice Fresh Killed rat or mouse, if that doesn't work wait 2 weeks and try again. In the 2 weeks do not disturb your snake only go in the viv for a spot clean and water change, also place a towel over the viv providing privacy.
