My Dragon Thil

Same goes for the pictures, haven't been able to take anything new but these aren't that old since Thil is more active and out more then Brood, hope to have some more soon though.

Re: My Dragon Thil

They're pretty awesome once you get everything settled, I went through h*ll and high water the first few weeks due to the pet store I got her from. They are listed as a beginner reptile and I know a lot of people who buy them who get overwhelmed so fast because even though they are pretty easy compared to a lot of other lizards they do take work and little things can cause a lot of issues.

Re: My Dragon Thil

Look at that big boy!! Good grief he is gorgeous...and certainly not a missed meal. I often look at these big dragons and wish my guy wasn't so damn picky with his veggies. Half the time he doesn't touch his veggies unless I put in romaine. He LOVES romaine but will skip meals if it isn't. He will even pick around the other stuff to get to romaine.

But I still love him and though he isn't as big as he could be he is still my old grumpy man <3

Re: My Dragon Thil

Thil is actually a girl haha, sorry should have said it lol when I first picked her up I was hoping for a boy and kinda still wish she was, I'd rather deal with hormones then eggs. Thil isn't much of a veggie eater either, pretty much tried everything I could find on Nutrition Content but she is a big butt about stuff though she doesn't mind bok choy and collard greens once in a awhile. She actually was on quite a food strike after brumation and I was kind of worried but all her fecals turned out fine and she picking back up with the roaches, currently shedding pretty much her whole front half. I'm hoping the veggies will follow soon.

Also Thank you, she turned out to be quite the stunner for a pet store dragon

Re: My Dragon Thil

KyJinn is about 5 years old and will DEVOUR crickets like no bodies business. That is what I primarily feed him since he has never taken really to veggies. Though I do try and give him either collard or mustard greens with some squash usually 3 times a week. When not ignoring his veggies he is putting away around 40 crickets nearly at one time once a week.

When he was little I would feed him Romaine instead of the veggies that were good for him and so perhaps that is why he doesn't like what he should be eating. Grew up on "junk food" so to speak.

Oh and did I mention he will poop in his food bowl if he is particularly not in the mood for his veggies?

Re: My Dragon Thil

Thil has never pooped in her viv or outside it, only in the bath, so glad i have her trained lol. Thil is a little over a year and a half and only 17 inches (still small in my mind), she eats about 6 roaches a day, two sittings three a piece sometimes four which about roughly 60 crickets, she gets upset and stops eating if she misses the roach lol. As for veggies they are there but she never touches them, i'm really hoping she does start though, I've tried tough love but she wont have it lol.

Lord the way she eats sounds like KyJinn...at least the part about refusing veggies. Good luck when she gets older and will inhale more and more roaches I dunno what got mine to start eating veggies, I just think it is something they are *supposed* to crave eventually. And I will say KyJinn was nearly 2 years old before he really showed any interest in the veggies.

Re: My Dragon Thil

When Dragons reach adult they generally eat less insects and more veggies, switches from roughly 80% insects and 20% veggies to the other way. Most babies will eat veggies right away if offer and a lot of dragon breeders I know start them off that way but due to Thil being a pet store dragon she was only even fed meal worms and had to fight for her food since she was housed with bigger dragons, she was the runt. She makes up for it now for sure haha.

Thank you Stephan
