Does anybody have these? and a ?

I just got two new hogs, a male and a female. He is a great eater but she won't cut me any slack. She is 22cm and about 6g. I have had them a couple of weeks now and he has eaten great for but she has not. She seems to be in good health. About a week ago she went blue and two days ago she shed. My experience is after any snake sheds they are usually pretty hungry afterwards. She still refuses lunch and just hisses at me and the food and flattens her head.

I know they don't constrict and kinda just gulp their food (the male is a perfect example of this) so I am kinda at a loss on enticing her. Do the same tricks work on hogs that work on other snakes? Dancing the food, touching them lightly with it, leaving them with it? I have been trying f/t pinkines.

I also know they can sometimes be picky about mice at first as they like toads better. Could this be it and if so any suggestions?

I have a female hog Island also. When she first got here she didn't show much interest in eating(rat pups). I ended up giving her a hopper mouse but I dipped it's head in chicken broth before I offered it to her. Worked really well and now she's quite the little piggy. Still haven't gotten her to take a rat pup yet, i think that's gonna take a bit more work.

And as for the contricting thing. The first time I fed her she didn't constrict it, just opened her mouth and started eating. but every time since then she's grabbed it and wrapped it up just like any other constrictor. I think part of it is just being a young snake and being inexperienced.

I have a western hognose snake. He can sometimes be picky with food. I have him on f/t rat pinks. He used to get live, but one day got kicked by a mouse hopper and decided he was "scared" of live prey now. If I put live prey in there, he just hisses and runs from it. He will also have times when he hisses at the f/t prey and defensively strikes at it. But if I leave it in there with him, he always goes and eats it after a few minutes.

Re: Does anybody have these? and a ?

i like hog nose snakes, they are on the list just because of how cute they are. i was playing with a hatchling at a local pet store and he was soooo tiny and cute,

a question though arnt these guys "venomos" but like rear fanged? im curious how much a bite from a hatchling if it could actually break skin would hurt. i hear there not like extreamly painful but they do swell and tickle a little bit.
