i have RES. turtles and i love them very much, but i got alot of questions! how much should i b feeding them, they seem to be getting really big in a small amount of time. Am i over feeding them? one seems to be getting bigger than the other and they r both girls. they are between 5 and six inches, can i feed them guppies yet? do turtles shed? mine do! is that supposed 2 happen?
It would really depend on the size of the RES how much you feed them. Most packages say to feed them what they will eat in about 2 minutes. What I can tell you is that females do grow larger then the males. Are you sure they are both females? Guppies are fine, and everything sheds.
Boots is right on. But I just want to add that RES can grow very rapidly and will eventually be the size of a large dinner plate. Make sure your inclosure is large enough. When they are full grown they will need a very large tank or pond. If you post pictures of their tails I can tell you what sex they are. I shot from the bottom will work best.
