Canon Power Shot S2 IS

I just got this cam and I really haven't had time to learn how to use it yet. I have a Kodak DC 215 that I've had for years. It is a great little cam and has always taken clear pics.

I've only taken 3-4 pic with the new one but they don't seem as clear as they should be. I believe it is a 5 mega pixel where as my old cam was only a 1.3 MP.

Shouldn't the new one be more clear? Do I have something set wrong?

Maybe someone could give me some tips?

I have the resolution set to the second to largest size 2048 x 1536 and the compression is set to Normal. There is 1 higher resolution setting and 2 higher compresson settings but looks like that is for shooting better movies. The normal compression setting gives more still shots.

I really don't know what effect either of these settings has on over all quality of the pic.
