Silkworm size question.

Is a 4.5" long bearded dragon too small to eat a ~1" long silkworm? The reason I ask is because silkworms are so squishy it seems unlikely that they'd get impacted. And I'm going to try to switch to silkworms asap rather than feeding crickets. But before I mail order a bunch I want to make sure that he'll eat them and the only ones they have at the pet shop are ~1".

Thanks for any help!

Is there a particular reason why you want to take crickets out of your beardies diet? They should still be given crickets and worms aswell. I use silkworms mainly as a treat/snack and only use them maybe once per 2 weeks. To answer your question though- a 1" silk shouldn't be a problem for your 4.5" beardy- but shouldn't be used as often as you say you're going to use them especially without any other source of protein. To add to that- I've found that my beardies got sick of silks if I use them too often anyway, so you might not have a choice in switching its diet. Plus silkworms are much more expensive than crickets. Hope this helps,
-Andrew-
