shipping snakes from the US to Canada

Just wondering if anybody has shipped or received snakes shipped from the US. Is it complicated, do you have to buy special permits, pay certain fees on top of the actual airline shipping charge (interested in Hondurans and Kenyans to be specific). Are all the states pretty similar when it comes to shipping to Canada? Cheers

Depends on the C.I.T.E.S appendix that the species is in. The hondurans shouldn't be a problem as they are apdx III. The sand boas are in apdx II so that will require a permit to be issued. that can take anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months. Depending on the seller they will charge around $500 usd for the paperwork and permits, and again depending on the seeler (in the USA) they will usually have a minimum shipment order cost (about $2500 - $5000 us) Normally if you are having snakes shipped from the USA you will not need to get any other paperwork as long as it is being flown in to Canada, if however you personally bring it across the border then you too will need the correct import / export papers. Try the canadian wildlife service for more precise details.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Hondurans are non-CITES, not Appendix III. They simply aren't listed at all.

The particular snakes you mention I do not know of the paperwork.
But generally there is paperwork involved.
Time frames anywhere from 90 days to a few months.
Not all sellers ship into Canada because of the extensive paperwork and understanding the rules involved.
The ones that do ship usually have a minimum purchase order say $500 - 2000 and up.

In the end if you want them and can get them and there is no major hassle, congrats.

What about Canada to the U.S.? I have recently had a couple of enquiries for pictus geckos and bearded dragons. I have yet to do any business to the U.S. I am wondering if someone was to make the trip up to Canada from the U.S. for a beardie, would they encounter any problems at the U.S. border, when beardies are not a cities listed animal (pictus geckos I'm not sure of?)? Do I need export papers to send with them? If so, what are the parameters of the requirements, ie. costs, time, etc. (any other info. those experienced with this can offer).
