Switching JCP's from mice to rats

How did/does everyone get their JCP's to switch from mice to rats?? My '04 Female recently switched from eating multiple hopper mice to multiple scented rat pinks. My male however won't touch anything rat. He'll gulp down 2 adult mice no prob, but won't even give a rat pup or pinks a second glance. Last night, he almost took a pink but after getting his mouth over it stopped dead in his tracks and dropped it. Then looked up at me like I was an idiot for giving him the wrong food. Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated.

Colin

Its a staged process and its super easy. Some take more time than others, and I've never really had any problems.

There are two methods:

1) Start feeding smaller-then-normal live rats. If they take them, then they will very very soon take frozen/thawed. Case closed.

2) If they won't take live rat hoppers, get them on to frozen/thawed mice. 1st feeding, feed a washed (with soap and water) mouse. 2nd feeding, feed a washed mouse that's scented with rat (lightly). 3rd feeding, feed a washed mouse that's HEAVILY scented with a rat. 4th feeding, feed a rat (may have to do method #1 from here with a small live rat hopper).

Its all patience, but its really very very easy. Also, some stages may need to be repeated if the snake refuses to go to the next stage.

They will all switch eventually.

what i did was take a mouse and rat in the same bag, thaw them out, and feed her the mouse first, as soon as she is nearly done swallowing the mouse you follow it up with the rat
hope this helps
