Gecko Egg HELP

Here's the story: We (my husband & I) noticed that one of our leo's was rearranging the sand (play sand from Lowe's) in their enclosure. We didn't think anything of it because the two are suppose to be girls. I was cleaning out the cage this evening when I found an egg. I really said "Oh No" because I uncovered the egg and moved it. My question is this, do leo's lay eggs even though they aren't mating? I have read that Bearded dragons can do this so I was wondering if Leo's do it too. I would read the Gecko manual but I let a friend borrow the book. Please someone help.

Leo's can retain sperm. How long have you had your leos? Are you sure of the sex, definitly double check

We've had the geckos a year or two. When we purchased them from the reptile store they said that they were girls. Our leo's were bred by the owner of this reptile store and said that they are incubated at a certain temperature to get girls out of the clutch. How do I check the sex of them?

Temp sexing is not 100% accurate try to sex the pair you have. Leo's will lay eggs sometimes without being introduced to males. They are not fertile though.

A male leo has two large lumps at the base of the tail (hemipene bulges) and a V shape of dark pores (pre-anal pores) above them. Females are smooth at the base of the tail with no pores. Females can lay eggs even if they never mate, but the eggs won't be fertile. If it turns out that you have a male and female you could incubate the egg in a deli cup of damp vermiculite, or perhaps the people who sold you the geckos could help you out with the egg. Either way let us know what the sexes turn out to be
