pine substrate?...o yeah i finally got a snake

i finally got a snake at the midatlantic reptile show. It is a 2 week old peublain (sp?) milk snake.
i have him with pine substrate...but it this substate toxic? or is it ok.
How often should i feed him (i 'm gonna try and feed him/her tomorrow.

some people say that pine is not toxic, but i still dont use it, too similar to cedar. a lot of people use aspen, which is good because you can suck it up with a wet vac and it is very absorbent. but i find that it gets everywhere and is really annoying, so i use carefresh or its generic equivalent vibrasorb. can use a wet vac, but it clumps very well, holds a burrow, and is very absorbent and not too dusty.

Congrats on the pueblan, there awesome snakes

I use pine for a few of my snakes and there 100% healthy, I have had no problems ever...but if you don't feel comfortable using this substrate use aspen or paper towel

I have used pine before with no problems, but I thought it bugged my nose when I dished it out, so I figured it might bug the snakes too. I use aspen or paper-towels right now...
