hypo or albino cal king?
i just bought my first snake this past weekend at the white plains show and the dealer told me that it was an albino california king snake. everything has been going great.. he shed when we got home almost immediately and even though i was told that he was only eat live pinkies, he wolfed down a thawed one the day after we got him.
my only question is what morph/phase he is. he has chocolate instead of black and has a light yellow instead of the white. like i said, the dealer told me that was an albino, but upon looking online all i saw was one similar called a hypo. dont have any pics yet, sorry.

An albino should have no black or chocolate on it. There should be areas of pink instead. Sounds like a coastal phase to me.

thats it! thank you very much. unforunately this means that i am not too confident in the dealer i bought him from. i know he knew enough. he had an extensive collection of colubrids, pythons, beardeds, and leos so it makes wonder why he wasnt honest.
at least he seems to be in good heath. (fingers crossed)

Not sure why he would say albino... Sounds like a coastal to me too...
Maybe he meant it was het-albino...?

If its yellow & chocolate its a Coastal phase & is definitely not an Albino. I'll give the breeder some credit & assume Will is right & you got confused about the Albino thing because it is Het for Albino maybe, if not the breeder is clueless. If he can't tell an albino from a regular LOL All albinos have either red or pink eyes irreguardless of the species (not only snakes but anything) & generally appear white or pinkish sometimes with other colors such as reds, oranges & yellows. Very easy to identify even for a young novice keeper, Mark
P.S. I doubt its a hypo but it could be, pics would tell the tale ; )

i dunno if i missed him saying het, but i dont think he did. as for the lack of pink eyes, all i have to say is... DUH! i cant believe i actually forgot that. feeling kinda stupid now..lol
i might have misheard him or something as i was with my wife who was starting to become attached to one of the dealers leopard geckos and was i was talking to him and her at the same time.
as for your not so subtle hint at posting a pic.. i will .. i will!
