Kingworms...

Does any one know how to raise kingworms? I bought a few, and I want to know how to make them pupate, then how to keep the beetles, and then how to breed them. Any help here? thanks a lot,
Dan Conner

I am trying my hand at breeding superworms for the first time. I was having no luck with them (silly me thought they were similar to breeding mealies ), but have asked around it come up with a few things.

Basically they will not pupate in a group, they have to be placed into separate quarters (such as a film container) in order for them to pupate. I have also been advised to just through in a large peice of rotten wood with many holes in it. I haven't gotten any further than this so I can't pass on any more info

I beg to differ...
Superworms can turn into beetles, it's just tougher
they need to be put in a separate container which can be as small as a camera photo container with about an inch of substrate
they need warmer temps than mealies to pupate and they take longer
the pupae and the beetles look similar to those from mealworms except they are bigger.
rather than a damp papertowel, I put in vegetables like a carrot or a zucchini
fruits, like apples, tend to rot since the moisture content is higher

Good Luck !

pretty sure...zoophobas (I think that's what they're called)
I'll try to come up with a pic but full grown worms are about 2.5 inches long and .5 - .75 inches wide
they bite when you hold 'em too tight
They look very similar to regular mealworms except some of the stripes are darker
