The Complete Chondro.....a must read book.

EVERYONE:

Hi there, well my long wait has finally come to an end. Well not to long about 2 weeks, but well worth it. I finally got my copy of "THE COMPLETE CHONDRO" from Greg Maxwell. Green Tree Pythons (Chondros) have been my favorites snakes right next to Emerald Tree Boas aside from Boa Morphs. Both Emerald and Green Trees being just normal looking are amazing to see and keep in your collections and once you see the designer lines you will do whatever to get a few extra bucks to get these too. I have admired and respected Greg Maxwell for years now and just go into heart failure everytime I see new bloodlines created.

Well I knew he had a great book released and I knew I had to have it. Saved up some coin and picked it up recently. Just delivered today. A beautiful book and a signed autograph too, I am now a groupie

If you love snakes, pythons, green tree pythons and respect the best people out there breeding them.....this book is a asset.

I am so happy with it, sorry if it sounds like an advertisement but the like Greg Maxwell says:

"Quality is Contageous!"

i wanted to get that book at the reptile show i was at but it was pretty expensive and i had to buy other things, so i passed on it where did you get it. looks like a great book have fun reading

It is a great book, no disagreement there but ah... Can you copyright photos taken of someone else's copyrighted book? I mean, the photos WERE taken by you, but they were taken of material which is already copyrighted... it's like taking a camcorder to the movie theater and then claiming you own the rights to the tape.

jparker, I too thought the book was pretty pricey until I saw my copy....it's well worth it

hundreds of full color pages, not to mention priceless information

I was giving a review, if anything a 110% positive review. I own the book as well, and the photos are rather small on purpose to defeat the idea of stealing them for personal use. Also most of the photos appear on Greg' s site as well. But the overall photo I posted was to show how beautiful the book is on the cover and inside as well.

And until they outlaw every type of recording device, tape recorders, VCRs, photo cameras, digital cameras, CD recorders, DVD records, MP3 devices and so on and pull them off the racks and lable companies that build them as criminals and retailers that sell them as well. Then me displaying a photo of a great book is wrong.

Anywho, I agree. This book is amazing and I am exremely glad that I decided to purchase it!

It is definitely worth the $50 to ensure that you're $500+ animal is in good hands!

Ever since my copy showed up I haven't been able to put it down!

Pretty much, yup. If you were taking photos of every single page, photocopying them in color and then selling 'em it'd be a whole different story but I doubt anyone (Er... Gregg) would complain because you took photos of the cover. Just the ingrained instinct for anyone posting photos online to edit copyrights onto them without hesitation... it protects them more often than not but in this instance was a bit out of place.

Just to echo others a bit more... it really is one of the greatest pet trade books I have ever seen, detailing housing, feeding, natural behaviors, locality debates, general health, breeding and even notes on some of the more controversial aspects which views are the authors and which are more widely accepted. While I'd like to see Gregg publish another hundred of these on different species, I doubt it'd be possible because the reason it's so good is simply the amount of time and effort he has dedicated to the species. I'm sure he could produce a few more on other species he has worked with to a greater degree but nobody can do so widely without losing quality. Still, if other gurus of the pet trade follow his example, we can finally put aside all the old garbage books by Coborn and DeVosjolie (both of whom have "written" books containing information on species they have never even SEEN in person) and start getting quality worthwhile information out in a way that appeals to experienced herpers but can still educate neophytes.
