I'd say another hide and a digital thermometer so u know what the temps are. They should be around 80 on the cold side and 90-95 on the hot side. Good luck with the new bp

You have a uth, but you need something to CONTROL the heat, a UTH can get WELL over 110 degrees. A lamp dimmer will work fine.

You also need something to READ the heat, a digital thermometer from wal-mart works awesome. Put the probe OVER the UTH on the inside (while the UTH is on the outside underneath the tank)

You should (IMO only) also use news paper or paper towel for a while. Just to make sure it has no mites and such.

With the lizard liner ALWAYS make sure to have 2 pieces, so you can exchange a dirty one for a clean one.

Also add another hide, there shoudl be 2, one on the cool side one on the hot side.

Hot side 90-95 degrees
cool side 80-85 degrees

You shouldn't need any heaters, unless your room is cold.

You also might want to make a trip back to the pet store and get a humidity gauge, humidity should be

NOT in shed-40-50%
IN shed-50-70%

If you don't mind, it sounds like you ordered him from a breeder, where/who (if it's ok, if not just don't answer) are you getting him from?

Edit: Hopefully you have a secure lid as well?

A butter container will work fine. Crumply paper works really well, sort of simulates leaf litter. I would suggest closing off three sides of your tank so your Ball doesn't feel so exposed - glass is nice for us, but offers no security for the snake. Get rid of the carpet. Carpetting only benefits the keeper, it has nothing to offer the animal. I would suggest using paper towel for the first little while (quarantine). Afterwards if you don't like the look of towels you can always change to something a little nicer looking like Cypress mulch or Carefresh. As Sappire_moon already mentioned, you will definitely need to hook up your UTH to a dimmer. Instead of getting a hygrometer from a pet store, just get a digital thermometer that has one built in I find my balls shed fine at room humidity, which is around 45% here right now. Good luck with your new little guy!

ya, I always forget that word, lol. Yours shed at 45% humidity, wow, must be nice, mine have to have *ATLEAST* 55% to properly shed.
Must be the enviroment.
I use a butter bowl turned over with a hole cut in the side. It seems to be her "favorite" hide. lol

Never heard of logan enterprises, do they have a website? (Moving back to the new england area and looking for reputable breeders) and are bp's the only thing he sells?

You got ripped on the lizard liner, H. Depot has a good indoor outdoor carpet for a good price. It is FAR cheaper than that stuff @ the pet store.

not to mention, buying lizard liner for a 10g tank is kind of pointless, especially when you will be upgrading to a larger tank in a few months.
