Omnivorous Diet
Does anyone feed their chameleons an omniviorous diet? If so, what kinds of vegetables or fruits do they eat and are healthy? This is mainly regarding a veiled Chameleon.

Hey have adapted to a omnivorous diet for a reason, because in order to obtain the proper nutrients, they must intake both items. In this case, it is even more so, being that they are only slightly omnivorous, in that they consume limited amounts of vegatation, and of course some species more then others.

My apologies, I read the question wrong. Now, your answer is yes! I feed them various fruits, and they all have a few live plants in their enclosures, including pothos and ficus. I also offer vegetables, which I clip to 'vegetable clips' on the sites. These vegetables are based upon your typical 'gut load' vegetables (kale, nappa, mustard greens, etc.). Again, Veiled Chameleons in particular consume quite a bit more vegetation as compared to Veiled Chameleons?

Meow mix, do you have live plants in the enclosure? If so, chances are your Veiled takes a nibble at it now and then. In addition, where one of my Veileds will eat vegetables from my hands, the other will only eat it if it is left available for him in the enclosure. To feed them fruit, I rub it on their mouth to give them a taste, and sometimes encourage them to eat it by opening their mouth slightly. Generally, once they get a taste for it, they will continue to eat it.
