Jacksons Gestation.
My Jacksons have mated and I'm just wondering if anybody else out there has bred them and how long it took until birthing. All the sites I check say anywhere from 5 to 10 months, just want to know if someone could narrow that time frame down.
thanks

5 - 10 months is the standard time frame, depending on what temperature you keep the female at while gravid.

i have a jackson myself, and when i was considering getting him a mate i did a lot of research on it, and yeah, do what collide said. have a lot of basking spots, some out in the open, and some covered with some plants for shelter. also, he food intake will increase, and then she will stop eating all together a day or two before birth. and also, it taks about 7-9 months(like collide also said).

How did you convince them to mate? I've introducing my female to my male for almost a month now (every few days) with no luck, just a black, rocking, hissing girl.....
Any tips?

I keep both my jacksons in the same cage. Its big 4' tall, 4' wide and 2' deep. Lots of braches, vines, plants and a couple basking sites.

i dont knwo if thats a good idea keeping the two jacksons together all the time, especially when one is gravid. ive read that it is good to periodically put them together after they mate, but not all the time because the female will start shwoing agression towards the male.

ya, but maybe hes lucky and they get along, its rare but it does happen but yes u have a good point, males and females shouldnt be living in a cage, unless breeding

I havn't had a problem yet, if i do they will be separated. There is enough plants in there cage that the can get completely out of site of each other if they want. But they useally just hang out together. As soon as it gets warm enough they'll both be going into separate cages outside.
